Aubrey Plaza broke her silence on Monday over the sudden death of her husband, Jeff Baena, calling it a "unimaginable tragedy" and requesting solitude.

Baena, an independent filmmaker, died Friday at his Los Feliz home, according to the Los Angeles County coroner's office, who found the cause of death was suicide. He was 47.

"This is an unimaginable tragedy." Plaza and Baena's extended family expressed their gratitude to everyone who has shown assistance in a statement shared with The Times. "Please respect our privacy during this time."

Plaza stepped down from hosting the 82nd Golden Globes in Los Angeles on Sunday evening following Baena's death.
